A journey through time
Dinosaurs & Deep Time is organized as a progression through Earth's history rather than a loose gallery of dramatic fossils. Rooms move through ancient oceans, life on land, major extinctions, dinosaur worlds and the rise of later animals.
Specimens and interpretation
The exhibition distinguishes fossils, casts, models, mounts and artistic reconstructions whenever possible. The object itself and the interpretation built around it are not always the same thing, and visitors deserve to know the difference.
Science changes
Paleontology is an active science. Dates, classifications, reconstructions and interpretations can change when new material is discovered or old evidence is reexamined. The exhibit is designed so those changes can be incorporated rather than frozen forever.
More is coming
New dossiers, better imagery, additional prehistoric environments and deeper reading paths will continue to expand this exhibition.
SAGE Museum is being built as a living experience rather than a finished static website. We are continually researching, correcting, expanding and redesigning collections so returning visitors can discover something new. Some areas will grow quickly, others carefully over time. New exhibits, stories, artwork, reading material and interactive features are planned as the museum develops.
We are striving to give visitors an experience that is useful, beautiful, curious and worth returning to. Check back as the collection grows.
